Colorado’s Home Ranch Announces “Whiskey & Fishing”, a four-day experience featuring fly fishing, whiskey tastings, mixology classes and more from August 26-30.

Clark, CO (July 25, 2018) —   Discover the joy of dry fly fishing and the pleasure of whiskey tasting at The Home Ranch’s four-day “Whiskey & Fishing” getaway.  Taking place from August 26-30, considered the best time of the year for dry fly fishing, this four-day retreat features casting clinics, fly fishing excursions, nightly whiskey tastings, mixology and cooking classes, grilling demonstrations and a Fly Fishing Grand Slam to conclude the week.

The all-inclusive Home Ranch, an Orvis endorsed lodge with a Relais & Chateaux designation,  is located  in Clark, Colorado, 20 minutes from Steamboat Springs.  “Whiskey & Fishing” is open to both novice and experienced fly-fishing guests and under the direction of The Home Ranch’s Fishing Director Greg Creamer.  Fly fishing will take place on three miles of the Elk River, which flows through the property.  This classic rocky mountain freestone river supports abundant populations of wild rainbow, brown, brook and cutthroat trout, along with a great insect population.  Rods, reels, waders, and seasonal flies will be available for guests.

Guests will also enjoy a variety of whiskey tastings each evening.  Master Distiller Rob Dietrich will offer tastings of  The Home Ranch’s own branded Stranahan Whiskey (named for the ranch owners’ family). Chef Jonathon Gillespie will offer cooking demonstrations and Gardener Allison Mecklenburg will provide tours of The Home Ranch’s extensive gardening operation.  Other special activities include mixology demonstrations and farm dinners along with live music.
