Pet Lovers Rejoice!  This Spring Break Vacation Features a Pet Sleepover While Enjoying the Red Rock Canyons and Vistas of Southeastern Utah

Kanab, Utah (3/5/2020) — For those seeking a truly unique Spring Break option,  the Kanab, Utah-based Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile is offering a “Spring Break Sleepover” package  featuring an overnight stay with one of the very adoptable pets  from  Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, located just five minutes from the Roadhouse.

Created by  Best Friends Animal Society, Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile is a completely pet-centric hotel that opened in November of 2019. Designed with pets in mind, the Roadhouse is outfitted with durable fabrics and materials, pet introduction doors (a two-door entry that ensures the pet will not slip out), room furnishings built 18 inches or higher to avoid pet entrapment or accidents, sleeping areas featuring pet mattress, as well as communal complimentary pet washing stations and fenced-in park with a water feature, and pet walking services and sitting, upon arrangement.

One of the special features of Best Friends Roadhouse is the relationship with the Sanctuary.  Each year more than 30,000 people visit and volunteer at the Sanctuary.  Socializing pets is an important component of the Best Friends program and with the Roadhouse now in operation, guests have an opportunity to select a dog or cat at the Sanctuary and bring it back for a sleepover.

During the month of March and April, Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile is highlighting a special package designed for “pet lovers” who are traveling without their pets.   The package features one night accommodations, continental breakfast, a voucher for a buffet lunch for two at Angel Village Cafe at Best Friends Sanctuary and a “Modern Beast Lavender Bedtime Bear”.   Filled with lavender, this cuddly toy is a calming influence for animals plus guests can take it home as a souvenir for their pets at home.  The package starts at $159 per night.  Best Friends members receive a  discount.

“We encourage our guests to snuggle up with one of the very adoptable dogs or cats who currently live at the Sanctuary,” said Brooks Bradbury, General Manager, Hospitality.  “It’s an easy way to spend some quality time with an adoptable dog or cat without a long-term commitment.  You get cuddles and snuggles; they get to experience a homelike environment for a night.”

Other activities in the Kanab area that visitors can enjoy include a voluntourism experience at the Best Friends Sanctuary or a VIP Tour of the Sanctuary, a visit to Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Grand Escalante Staircase or Zion National Park.

About Best Friends Animal Society

Best Friends Animal Society is a leading national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters. In addition to running lifesaving programs in partnership with more than 2,700 animal welfare groups across the country, Best Friends has regional centers in New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Salt Lake City, and operates the nation’s largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals. Founded in 1984, Best Friends is a pioneer in the no-kill movement and has helped reduce the number of animals killed in shelters nationwide from an estimated 17 million per year to around 733,000. That means there are still nearly 2,000 dogs and cats killed every day in shelters, just because they don’t have safe places to call home. We are determined to bring the country to no-kill by the year 2025. Working collaboratively with shelters, rescue groups, other organizations and you, we will end the killing and Save Them All.
