
The Edgewater in Madison, WI Lights Up for the Holidays and Brings on the Blues for New Year’s Eve
A Festive Family Tree Lighting Ceremony and Blues-Inspired Blue Year’s Eve Highlight the Holiday Season at Madison’s Edgewater.
Madison, WI (November 13, 2019) — With the flip of a switch and the roar of the crowd, Madison’s Edgewater kicks off the holiday season on November 29 with its sixth annual tree lighting ceremony. This is just the start of a festive season featuring caroling happy hours, holiday-inspired spa treatments, an afternoon tea, breakfasts with Bucky Badger, and Santa and a mashup of Blues and Bluegrass-inspired ”Blue Year’s Eve.”
The beloved Tree Lighting, capped off by the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus at 6 p.m., features the lighting of three giant evergreens on the Grand Plaza of the lakefront urban resort. Event festivities, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., include face painting, cookie decorating, story time, and crafts, along with live musical performances by the Ken Lindquist Band, Black Star Drum Line, David Landau, Ringing Badgers Hand Bells and Central Midwest Ballet. The event is free and open to the public.

6th ANNUAL HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING (November 29) – begins at 2 p.m. and includes family-friendly activities, performances by local choirs, kids’ crafts and more. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at 6 p.m. for the official tree lighting ceremony on the resort’s outdoor Grand Plaza.
BLACK FRIDAY AND CYBER MONDAY SALE (November 29-December 2) –Guests who book a room between November 29 and December 2, can take advantage of The Edgewater’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale and save 25 to 35 percent on all room bookings between November 29, 2019 – March 31, 2020. AUGIE’S TAVERN HOLIDAY HAPPY HOUR (December 6, 13, 20) – Enjoy festive drinks and the Capital City Theater Carolers from 5-7 p.m. each Friday throughout the holiday season.
SPA-LIDAY SOIREE! (December 6) – Begin the season feeling beautiful and bright! BUCKY’S BREAKFAST WITH SANTA (December 7) – UW Madison’s Mascot Bucky Badger and Santa Claus will be special guests at this popular sit down breakfast that features a pint-size pancake station.
PJ&S AND PANCAKES (December 14) – Kids and parents can dress in their favorite pair of PJ’s and enjoy breakfast with Santa. Made-to-order pancakes, decorated by kids of all ages, along with holiday ornament making and photos with Santa highlight this special event.
HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE (December 14) –The Edgewater Market presents its first open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enjoy a warm drink while sampling from local food and beverage purveyors and shopping for unique gifts.
MAGICAL BREAKFAST WITH SANTA (December 21) – Join Santa and Mrs. Claus for a magical morning as we countdown to Christmas! This inaugural holiday event is from 9-11 A.M. and will feature a traditional breakfast buffet, a viewing of Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas and a very special visit from Mickey and Minnie themselves. DESTINATION BLUE YEAR’S EVE (December 31) – It’s all about the blues this year at The Edgewater’s Blue Year’s Eve Party. From the bluegrass music of Wheelhouse to the blues styling of the Chris O’Leary Band and The Jimmy’s, the evening is made for music lovers. The party features appetizers, complimentary beer and wine and a champagne toast at midnight. A cash bar will be provided.
