Lakefront Urban Resort Rolls Out the Red “Holiday” Carpet Offering Weekly Events; Kicks Off with Tree Lighting Ceremony On Outdoor Plaza Nov. 23
Madison, WI (October 23, 2018) — With the flip of a switch and the roar of the crowd, Madison’s Edgewater kicks off their holiday season on November 23. An afternoon of festive performances and holiday activities is capped off by a 6 p.m. tree lighting ceremony, presided over by Santa and Mrs. Claus, on the resort’s outdoor Grand Plaza. This is just the start of a month-long series of holiday events at the lakefront urban resort.
All decked out for the holidays, twinkling lights cast a festive glow on the historic property, located just blocks from Capitol Square and the University of Wisconsin campus – and, this year, guests will be treated to a gingerbread replica of Madison’s State Capitol. Handcrafted by The Edgewater’s Executive Pastry Chef Paul Trecroci, who has a decade of experience designing Gingerbread structures, the State Capitol will reside in The Edgewater’s Lobby.
Holiday Schedule:
5th ANNUAL HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING (November 23) – Family friendly activities, including performances by local choirs, kids’ crafts and more, begins at 2 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at 6 p.m. for the fifth annual official tree lighting ceremony on the resort’s outdoor Grand Plaza.
BLACK FRIDAY AND CYBER MONDAY SALE (November 23 and 26) –Guests who book a room between November 23 and November 26, can take advantage of The Edgewater’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale and save 25 percent on all room bookings between November 23, 2018 – April 1, 2019. Rates offered as low as $119 per night.
PJ&S AND PANCAKES (December 1) – Kids and parents can dress in their favorite pair of PJ’s and enjoy breakfast with Santa. Made-to-order pancakes, decorated by kids of all ages, along with holiday ornament making and photos with Santa highlight this special event. Make it easy and take the elevator in your PJs to breakfast in the morning with a special overnight package.
SPA-LIDAY SOIREE! (December 7) – Begin the season feeling beautiful and bright! Enjoy two mini treatments of your choice, makeup application, a take-home goodie bag, door prizes, exclusive discounts, appetizers and champagne. Treatments include: Merry & Bright Manicure, Fa La La Foot Treatment, Mini Mistletoe Facial; Winter Wonderland Hydration Lactic Facial Treatment; ‘Tis the Season Dry Blowout; Mele Kalikimaka Mini Massage. Arrive early and enjoy the Spa’s luxurious relaxation pool, steam room and lounge. Cost is $75 per person.
BUCKY’S BREAKFAST WITH SANTA (December 8) – UW Madison’s Mascot Bucky Badger and Santa Claus will be special guests at this popular sit down breakfast that features a pint-size pancake station.
HOLIDAY TEA (December 15 and 16 at 3 p.m.) – A bit of Jolly Old England is celebrated on December 15 and 16 with a festive Afternoon Tea served in the lakefront Statehouse Restaurant. Finger sandwiches, scones and pastries served on three-tier stands—all sure to get you in the holiday spirit.
HOLIDAY SPA TREATMENTS – Throughout the festive season, The Edgewater’s full-service spa will feature such fun holiday treatments as a Bourbon Marshmallow Body Treatment and a Peppermint Bark Bliss Pedicure.
CHRISTMAS DAY GRAND BRUNCH (December 25) – A grand buffet brunch featuring favorite holiday fare is a time-honored tradition for locals and visiting families.
DESTINATION NEW YEAR’S EVE: THEN & NOW (December 31) – The Edgewater has been Madison’s Place for New Year’s Eve for the last 70 years! Back THEN they had Don Voegeli and his orchestra, NOW it’s front man Jimmy Voegeli and The Jimmys. THEN we served Classic Martinis and Tom Collins, NOW craft cocktails. THEN donned 50’s Glam and NOW guests come as they are from casual to festive attire. Destination New Year’s Eve: THEN & NOW feature The Jimmys and opening band, The Bel Airs.
