FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Historic Lakeside Property Secures Only Rating in Madison

November 1, 2017  (Madison, WI) — The Edgewater was named the No. 6 hotel in the Midwest in the 30th annual Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, appearing in the November 2017 edition. The AAA Four-Diamond property received the only rating in the city of Madison and was one of four hotels throughout the state of Wisconsin to be named in the Top 25 Midwest Hotels category.

“We are incredibly honored to be recognized by our guests and we are thrilled to be included in the 2017 Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards,” said Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President, Amy Supple. “Since reopening in 2014, we have worked diligently to make The Edgewater Madison’s Place for area residents and visitors alike. Being recognized in such a prestigious publication and – as one of the best hotels in the Midwest is a tribute to the vision of our ownership and the dedication of our entire Edgewater team.”

Over 300,000 readers submitted millions of ratings and tens of thousands of comments, voting on a record-breaking 7,320 hotels and resorts, 610 cities, 225 islands, 468 cruise ships, 158 airlines, and 195 airports.

Originally opened in 1948 along the shores of Lake Mendota, The 202-room Edgewater has been a prominent gathering place in the heart of Madison, Wisconsin.  In 2012, the hotel underwent a major, two-year renovation and reopened in 2014 with a new, state-of-the-art building housing 100 guest rooms; an expansive spa and wellness center; a pier with 40 complimentary boat slips; two lakeside restaurants, a bar and coffee shop and a Grand Plaza featuring free, year-round community events including a winter ice rink, fall food festivals and summer concerts.

The Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry and are commonly known as “the best of the best of travel.” Under Editor in Chief Pilar Guzmán, the Readers’ Choice Awards have become more selective and specific to the passions that inspire today’s travelers.

The Readers’ Choice Awards is featured in the November issue of Condé Nast Traveler. The full list is published exclusively online, at www.CNTraveler.com/rca.
