North Carolina Lodge Features Flavors of Summer and Fall
Waynesville, North Carolina (06/26/2018) — The Swag announces the next two dates for their popular Mountaintop Cooking Schools. The Summer School will take place from August 19-21 and the Fall School from November 12-14. Produce from The Swag bountiful Garden will be incorporated into recipes whenever possible.
Executive Chef Jake Schmidt will oversee each two-hour class which will feature a different course. Day one will be devoted to the hors d’oeuvres and salad or soup course and day two will feature the main course and dessert.
Chef Schmidt spent six years at the Omni Grove Park Inn, first as Chef de Cuisine, then Executive Sous Chef and finally as Executive Chef of the resort’s a la carte restaurants. Prior to this, Schmidt, who attended Kendall College in Evanston, IL, was the Executive Sous Chef of Chicago’s famed Signature Room for three years.
The three-night program features an evening social hour and hors d’oeuvres on the dog trot, two cooking classes daily and a farewell picnic lunch overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Swag’s 2017 Cooking School package starts at $520 per night plus tax. Price also includes a hearty breakfast, daily lunch, four-course dinner and a welcome gift.
