Madison’s Urban Resort Offers Ice Skating, Dinner, a Chocolate Dessert Bar and Music To Mark the Occasion
February 14-16, 2019
Madison, WI (Feb. 4) — Romantic gestures come in a variety of forms. As a nod to the most romantic holiday of the year, The Edgewater, an urban resort located on the shores of Lake Mendota, offers three special experiences to celebrate this sweet occasion.
Valentine’s Dinner at The Statehouse – Chocolate-inspired dishes from Executive Chef Juan Martinez will be featured for three nights only at The Statehouse. From 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., guests can enjoy such sweet and savory dishes as Butter Poached Lobster with White Chocolate, Caviar and Champagne Sauce ($18), Smoked Duck Breast with Cocoa-infused Parsnips, Port Reduction and Duck Fat Potatoes ($32) and Wisconsin Rack of Lamb with Bittersweet Chocolate and Red Wine Jus, Roasted Tomato, Raisin and Poblano Chili Caponata ($36). Live music will begin at 8:00 p.m.
Chocolate Dessert Bar at The Statehouse– Chocolate and live music will be the stars at the Chocolate Dessert Bar, served from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in The Statehouse restaurant on February 14,15, and 16. Head Pastry Chef Paul Trecroci – a Wisconsin native who honed his pastry skills at The Ritz-Carlton Chicago, Marche and Bittersweet Bakery – creates an indulgent dessert bar that includes homemade Grand Marnier Chocolate Truffles, Chocolate Espresso Tarts, Mousse Cups, Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries and more. The cost for the dessert bar is $18 per person.
Liquid Desserts at Augie’s Tavern and in the Wine Room – Live jazz and liquid desserts like Godiva Dark and White Chocolate Cordials, fine Ports or a Chocolate Martini with Stolichnaya Vanilla Vodka will be available in Augie’s Tavern and in the Wine Room on February 14, 15, 16 from 8:00 p.m. until midnight.
Valentine’s Date Disco Skate Night – Glide under the stars on an ice rink lit red this Valentine’s Day Eve. From 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., couples and singles of all ages can enjoy a skate to the disco sounds of the 70’s and 80’s. As a bit of trivia, seventies disco was born on Valentine’s Day 1970, when David Manusco opened The Loft in New York City. Cost is $7 per adult; $4 per senior; $6 students; $4 for ages 5 to 12. Winter warmers will be served in the rink side Ice House.
